Genoa, Italy

We stopped in Genoa, rather than Livorno due to bad weather. we have not been to Genoa before. It is a large port city, and everywhere is a mixture of old and new buildings, narrow alleyways, and large squares. We explored on our own, and had a very pleasant day.

This cathedral was typical of the many churches that we saw. Although the exterior is quite modest, the interior was extraordinary!

A typical street with retail shops and old Palazzo's together. The effect was to give a lot of old character to the many narrow streets and alleys, with lots of sidewalk cafes and small tratatoria type restaurants.
