Barcelona, Spain

We docked in Barcelona, Spain to let off passengers, and pick up the next group. Of the last group, 143 have stayed on to continue to Abu Dhabi, arriving November 27. Since we have been here before and have seen the major tourist sights, we enjoyed a  relaxing walk on our own to the market, down La Rambla , the pedestrian area, and around the waterfront. The word Rambla  is derived from the Arabic word rambia which means dry sand, and has come to describe an esplanade or broad avenue.

This is the statue at the waterfront that is the start of the La Rambla area.
La rambla. It was early in the morning, so still not very crowded.

The entrance to the food market.

The selection of cured meats is amazing!

Dried fruit and nuts.

Olives and olive oils. These people really know how to eat!

One of the quiet squares lined with restaurants a block away from La Rambla.

A quiet residential neighborhood a few blocks from La Rambla.

A sailboat at the harbor.

A pedestrian bridge on the yacht harbor that opens to allow boats to pass through.
